Directed by Jean-Yves Esquerre, the European School of Ballet (ESB) is a center of advanced training and professional development in ballet and its classical offshoots in contemporary repertoire.
ESB aims to help perpetuate the legacy of academic European ballet expanded with contemporary styles. It welcomes world-renowned ballet masters to stage works and help in the mission of preservation of iconic choreographies.
ESB, that welcomes European and international students age 13-19, offers a variety of lessons and workshops fostering personal growth and individual coaching. Ballet, classical & contemporary repertoires, pas-de-deux, brio and pointe work, mindfulness techniques and preparation for international auditions are some of the classes offered at ESB which also provides body conditioning, Pilates and Gyrotonics classes and is supported by a team of medical doctors and sport therapists.
ESB offers supervised lodging for young students as well as studios to share in four brand new and secured buildings in the heart of Amsterdam. ESB also provides a two-week Winter School as well as a three-week Summer School.
ESB, a partner of Youth America Grand Prix and Prix de Lausanne competitions, offers Three-Month and Six-Month Internship Programs to selected international students looking to experience the unique training of the school. Besides its Junior Program (age 13 to 15) and its Advanced Program (age 15 to 17), ESB also hosts its Trainee Program (former Dutch National Trainee Program), a unique and intensive course for 17 to 19 years old dancers in need of a stepping stone to launch their future professional careers.
